This LG refrigerator was a standout during our tests. It has plenty of space to feed a family, but we did notice a few irritating issues. First, the freezer drawers don't stay as cold as we would like. The temperature of the middle drawer climbed to 41° during our highest use test, which is the temperature needed to freeze ice cream and other frozen food items. The temperature of the rest of the freezer was about 36 degrees.

The doors of the refrigerator also have handles with sunken handles that make it difficult for those with smaller hands to close. It may seem trivial however, we prefer front mounted handles on refrigerators to make them easier to open and close.

The refrigerator is pricey but it's worth it for anyone who wants an elegant look for their kitchen. We recommend this fridge to those looking to upgrade their refrigerator or for those who are building a new home and want a more integrated design in the kitchen.

Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's most recent and most stylish counter-depth French door fridge, priced at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performs well in our cooling tests, but we're not fans of its polygon handles that are gimmicky and the bins with a crisper design feel a little flimsy.

One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is its Bespoke line that lets you personalize your fridge by removing colored panels that can be swapped whenever you get tired of the current ones. There are 11 color options including soft pastels, bolder hues and four metallic finishes. These panels can be customized to include photos or text. This gives the fridge a more personal touch and can match your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon, or tie-dye Crocs.

You can even change the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is a nice touch. The interior of the refrigerator has a smart finish which reduces the chance of smudges, and also makes cleaning easier. The RF23M8090SG's only real knocks are its slightly cramped beverage center as well as a bit of a learning curve when it comes to opening the door-in-door feature that houses a water pitcher as well as dispenser. You have to feel for an unmarked lever on the side of the door that is halfway across, and when you have it you will be able to open an additional door inside the refrigerator that houses the pitcher docking station, the water dispenser and two shelves for drinks.

The 6.8 cubic feet freezer compartment is big enough to store a lot frozen food items. It also has an open drawer that lets you access the food you need without opening the entire compartment. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

French door refrigerators are a great addition to any kitchen. They look clean and are suitable for any size of room. Counter-depth refrigerators are the best option if you're looking for this design, but without the height. We've tested many of models, and this Frigidaire model has earned a high score in our rating system for its affordable price and thoughtful features such as an adjustable temperature drawer.

But it also has a few nagging problems. Our test data shows that the FGHB2866PF warms up quite a bit in the freezer, and can get uncomfortably warm in the fridge's innermost shelving. This is evident in our heat maps, which show how much the interior temperatures fluctuate minute by minute. The orange area in the upper right corner, which is the butter bin, is especially warm for most of our testing period. It might not appear too awful at first glance, but it means the fridge is spending a large part of the time at 33 degrees.

It's also worth noting that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model. This could be a factor for certain buyers. The issue is that it's just not a great fridge, and the lack of top-of-the-line features and a sturdy construction make it difficult to recommend over better options in this price range.

In many ways, the Frigidaire is a stainless-steel version of a fridge that you might see on display at your local appliances store. It's a good choice with a brushed-finish that looks attractive and is resistant to streaks. However it's not offering much to differentiate itself from rivals that are more feature-rich and less expensive.

If you're looking for a cheap counter-depth French door refrigerator but do not have the money to splurge on our best choices and the FGHC2331PF is worth considering. It offers enough storage for most families, and it does a decent job keeping food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient unit, it's considerably less expensive than our best-rated models.
